You are altogether beautiful, my darling;
there is no flaw in you. (Song of Songs 4:7 NIV)
I was recently part of an online discussion on MODsquad regarding this Scripture verse. It was
a discussion, I might add, that had me pondering Scripture all day long, as
well as the days following.
What do you think when you read this verse? I wonder if it’s
anything like my first reaction was.
“You are altogether beautiful, my darling…”
As I read this first line, I felt comforted to hear God’s sincere
opinion of me.
Will you join me at 5 Minutes for Faith to
read the rest? If you do, please leave a comment. I’d love to know you stopped
by.
Have a blessed day!
In Christ,
Laura

Jumped over there to read, then back here to comment, because here's where you asked what we think of when we hear those words in that verse. Almost immediately I thought of what makes us beautiful and flawless: His beautiful sacrificial love, and how Ephesians 5:25-27 says He gave Himself for His church (us) "that He might present her to Himself... glorious... without spot or wrinkle or any such thing." Wow! No matter how flawed in myself I might be, His love transforms me to beautiful! Overwhelming thoughts of gratitude!

Praise God for finding me beautiful. I am only beautiful because of His love.
ReplyDeleteI did a 5 minutes for faith blog post in my first year of blogging. It was fun to guest post. Found it to be challenging and forces me to really think about presentation and content.
ReplyDeleteGood job.
Thank you, I'm enjoying being a monthly contributor.

I haven't hopped over to 5 minutes for faith yet to read the rest of the post but I love the post already! It's so amazing how so many of us do find fault in ourselves but we shouldn't because we were created in God's image. Going to head over and read the rest of the post now.
ReplyDeleteJanelle, thanks so much for visiting, commenting, and heading over to 5 Min. for Faith!

Created in His image... beautiful image. When we know our identity in Him, what a wonderful reflection we see. Blessings.
ReplyDeleteAnd the thought that I've heard before came to my mind. "And God doesn't make junk." Thank you for sharing this encouraging post.

It overwhelms me! Hannah Hurnard writes about this in Hinds Feet On High Places (beautiful allegory) as well. It amazes me to think that God sees me as His perfect beautiful bride. Such a wonderful thought!
ReplyDeleteIt often amazes me at how God looks upon each of us (although it shouldn't.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!
