Verses of God’s Love and Promises (Part One)

Welcome! This week we are in Chapter 5 “Love…I Don’t Believe That Anyone Could Really Love Me” of Sheila Walsh’s book The Shelter of God’s Promises.

My post is different this week. Instead of my thoughts, I want to focus on what Scripture says in the three areas of this chapter:

-Jesus’s love for us
-Jesus’s promises to us
-Jesus’s power over Satan.

Spiritual warfare is real. Satan will do anything he can to make us doubt God’s love for us, but in Jesus’s name, Satan flees. That’s why we need to arm ourselves with God’s Word, to read it, know it, and believe it. Say it out loud. Personalize the verses with your name. Pray them.

For example:
For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13 NLT
Jesus, I can’t do this on my own. I’m not capable. But I know through your strength, I can accomplish it.
There are many verses I want to share with you here, so I’m going to start today with Jesus’s love for us. On Thursday, I’ll share the verses for Jesus’s promises to us and Jesus’s power over Satan.
Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure. So we praise God for the glorious grace he has poured out on us who belong to his dear Son. He is so rich in kindness and grace that he purchased our freedom with the blood of his Son and forgave our sins. He has showered his kindness on us, along with all wisdom and understanding. Ephesians 1:4-8
For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. God sent his Son into the world not to judge the world, but to save the world through him. John 3:16-17
“For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken,” says the Lord, who has mercy on you. Isaiah 54:10
For no one is abandoned by the Lord forever. Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion because of the greatness of his unfailing love. Lamentations 3:31-32
And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Ephesians 3:18-19
And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. Romans 8:38
*All verses from the New Living Translation, in no particular order.

God’s Word is filled with verses of His love for us. Will you share a Scripture verse that moves you? Please leave a comment below.

In Christ,
