I’ve always
struggled with the book of Job. For years, I couldn’t get past the beginning
where God gives Satan permission to test Job. I didn’t like that part, so
that’s where I stopped reading. But, over the years, it seems God has led me to
the book of Job on several occasions.
While I was
thinking about God-given dreams recently, I read this verse:
So the Lord blessed Job in the
second half of his life even more than in the beginning.
I know I’ve read
it before because I remember thinking, Yeah,
but he lost so much before that! I got stuck in what happened to Job and
couldn’t move forward. Much like we do in real life.

Stuck. I'm feeling that way - heading over to finish the post. Neighbors at Jennifer's today.
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed your post Laura! Left comment at God-sized Dreams. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm reading The Call right now, and it seems a theme that keeps popping up wherever I read is "patience" - learning to wait for the real blessings rather than rush through.
ReplyDeleteI've been plowing through Job too, and never noticed that verse!
ReplyDelete"How often do we get stuck in the past, unable to move forward in the present?" Um, a lot. Lately, in particular. Pinning this to read in full form very soon. Because I KNOW I need it. Thank you, Laura...it's been so lovely to "meet" you today!
ReplyDeleteI remember thinking God was unfair to Job. It is a hard book I think, partly because we don't want to be tried like Job was. It seems so unfair. But then, who are we to call God unfair?
ReplyDeleteI feel as if I've been stuck for a long time.Thank you for this timely read.
