I haven’t been writing much lately. I am tired and worn out.
God knows.
But the other night, I told Him anyway. I had nothing left
to give. Nothing.
He reminded me of the Israelites in the desert. And I
pictured manna. Manna, provided by God—just what they needed for every day.
Some gathered a lot, some only a little. But when they measured it out, everyone had just enough. Those who gathered a lot had nothing left over, and those who gathered only a little had enough. Each family had just what it needed. Exodus 16:17b-18 NLT
And I realized it wasn’t just that night. I’ve been running
on empty for a while.
But God knew…and He showed me that He’s been providing just
what I needed for each day. I didn’t see it until then.
When I have nothing left to give, He replenishes me with just
what I need to keep giving. Just enough to keep going.
Not for tomorrow, because tomorrow there will be more manna
on the ground.
Just enough for today.
God was teaching the Israelites to depend on Him.
He’s teaching me the same.
In Christ,
A great reminder--thank you!
ReplyDeleteThank you :) God bless!
DeleteHow comforting! And what honest encouragement to keep us focused on the present instead of worrying about the future, too. Thanks for sharing at Faith Filled Fridays. :)
ReplyDeleteOh yes, the "what ifs" about tomorrow can really do us in, can't they? Thank you for your comment! God bless!
DeleteYes, God indeed meets our daily needs daily! My post yesterday also included a little thing about manna :).
ReplyDeleteHis grace is enough! His manna is enough...I can relate to the sense of emptiness...I have been experiencing it too, but your words and God's faithfulness remind me that he has been providing just what I need each day. Thanks Laura! Stay encouraged-Kel
ReplyDeleteThanks Kel :) God bless!
DeleteI too have been running on empty for what seems too long. But He is faithful to give us what we need, isn't He? Praying you are refreshed in the days to come!
ReplyDeleteAnd you too Barbie, thanks!
DeleteThis post touched my heart. I have (like many of the commenters before me) have been running on empty. Too much sickness going on in here, and a never ending to-do list to help everyone get better. It is so comforting to know (and be reminded that) God gives us just enough for today. That we should rely on him for everything--including nourishment for our weary selves. Thank you for the reminder!
ReplyDeleteNourishment for our weary selves -- Amen! Thanks for visiting Kalley, and for your comment. Blessings to you!
DeleteI really like this and especially for this moment. Thank you, Laura.
