Clinging to Scripture

"What Scripture verse are you clinging to?"

Years ago, a friend asked me this. At the time, I was dealing with some issues, and in a rare moment of vulnerability, I shared with her what I was struggling with.

"What verse is getting you through this?" she asked.

Although I'd never thought of it this way before, I knew immediately which verse I'd been clinging to for dear life.
Then Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest." Matthew 11:28 NLT
In it, I'd found the comfort and strength I desperately needed.

Over the years, I've gone back to that same questionoften reminding myself and sometimes asking others...

  1. I am clinging to Scripture too, my friend... Psalm 34:14b: "Embrace peace-- don't let it get away!"

    AMEN friend, Amen.

  2. I like to collect questions to help me through times and this one is a great one to add to my list. I usually have a yearly verse to guide me too. This year I am daily praying Psalm 27:4. But always open to other verses God sends my way.

  3. Laura, I am so grateful we have Scripture to hold onto. This year my focus is on Luke 8:50 but from week to week, I have others which speak into my heart that which I need at that very moment. Wonderful post!
