Rest {Something to Think About}

It’s been a long week and my emotions are getting the better of me. I’m tired—physically, and yes, emotionally. I’ve been searching Scripture for my favorite verses that meet me where I am and pick me up. I keep coming back to one I’ve clung to so many times before.

Then Jesus said, “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28 NLT)

Life seems harder when I’m drained. I need the Spiritual and physical rest Jesus gives.

What Scripture verse do you turn to when you need recharged?

I'm linking up today with Fresh Brewed Sunday and Grace Cafe.

In Christ,
Laura

  3. Laura, loved your post. I found in Ps.143:4-8 King David is overwhelmed; but thinks back on the goodness of God & cries for God to bring him out of this state of heart & mind again! I am new to your blog, but I am certainly loving your writing! Thankyou. Merry Christmas to you.

  4. Thank you Barbie and Child of God for your comments! There's no better place to rest than in the safety of our Lord!

    Helen, you bless me with your kind words! Thank you! I looked up Psalm 143:4-8 and found I already have in underlined. I remember when I first read it, I found it very comforting, and I did again today. I also like Psalm 142:1-3.

    Thank you! Merry Christmas!

    In Christ,
    Laura

  5. I have a few verses which pick me back up again, but mostly there are 3 psalms that I can't live without: 23. 27 and 91.

  6. Hi Laura - the verse you quoted is one that I turn to when weary and tired. Another one is Psalm 46:10 - "Be still and know that I am God." The NASB translates it, "Cease striving and know..."

    Many blessings to you and a joyful Christmas!

  7. VesselofGod, thanks so much for your comment. I agree with you - 3 very comforting Psalms!

    Thanks Joan, I hadn't seen the NASB translation before. I like it! I also like the Good News Translation "Stop fighting, he says, and know that I am God..."

    Thanks for visiting! Merry Christmas!
